Transportation from port

Moving a Kei car

Kei cars aren’t built for sustained highway speeds, so be sure to transport yours from the port using a method, such as a flatbed or trailer, that keeps its wheels off the pavement, preventing them from spinning and potentially causing damage.

Towing

A 6' x 12' trailer should be able to haul most Kei vehicles.

Uhual provides a standard tow trailer that should fit this requirement

Ensure that you get the 6x12 utility trailer and not the 6x12 Utility Trailer Rental with Ramp. The trailer with the ramp has a narrower entrance and can potentially cause damage to the Kei when loading and unloading.

Also, ensure that the 6x12 utility trailer with no ramp has an open entrance. Some of the 6x12 utility trailers with no ramp have a narrow entrance like the trailer with the ramp.

Tiedowns

You will need a set of 4 tie-downs to secure the vehicle to the trailer. Since Kei cars weigh about 1500 pounds, this set of 4 tie-downs will be sufficient to secure the vehicle.

You can secure the car by putting the hooks through the holes on the rim and running the tie downs across the trailer
